Up Close with Tim Hacker By Cindy Nunn Tim is a semi-retired physician with a longstanding keen interest in photography. He has been photographing for many years. He has also been juried into many art shows and he has won many awards in various contests he has entered. Additionally, Tim has had several works at the Collectors Corner gift shop at the Toledo Art Museum and has pieces on display in several art galleries. His photographs are all actual photographs, some of which have been 'altered by photopainting' or manipulated for special effects on the computer rather than in the darkroom since they are digital. He processes the images with a variety of software programs, including Adobe Lightroom 5, Adobe Photoshop CS5, Corel Painter, Photomatix, Helicon Focus, On One Software suite and a multitude of PS plug-ins, etc. He presently uses a Canon D1 Mark III and a Canon 5D Mark III after many years of 35mm Canon EOS use. Tim is not just a photographer, however. He also does acrylic paintings which he started when he retired from the office. He actually spends more time painting now than on the photography. Tim was actually a place winner in our Fast Vehicles & Sexy Women contest, but we felt that some of his close-up photography of cars, both vintage and modern, were so superb that we wanted to offer him his own feature in the magazine. Tim has an exceptional talent for capturing provocative close-up shots of a car's personality and features, giving us a whole new and exciting perspective. Utilizing filters and manipulations through specialty software he also adds a wonderful touch of flash and bling, while also pulling out the rich colors and making them pop with showroom pizzazz. Between great-grandpa's dignified 1930's Packard and grandpa's rockin' hot rod, to the modern day Red Lexus LFA, Chevy Miray Concept car and the Falcon F7, you just might need a napkin, or even a large bib, because these metal miracles are going to leave you drooling! If you enjoy the work you see here and want to see more, Tim has many more images on www.timhacker-docshots.com and at http://timothy-hacker.artistwebsites.com/ so stop by for a visit! 46
