Highlights of the Long Beach Comic Expo 2014 by Tommy Anderson From May 31st through June 1st 2014 fans of super heroes, cos-players, celebrities, and their fans were at the Long Beach, California Convention Center for a build up to larger San Diego Comic Con International in late July. Thousands enjoyed seeing their favorite super hero or fantasy creature come to life over this 2 day event. Many of the costumes were amazing and great attention to detail was shown by the person wearing them as many actually took over the persona of the subject they were playing. It was a very enjoyable event and it is a time when the fans could actually get up and personal with the stars that played in some of our favorite movie and TV shows. In addition to the on screen celebrities it also gives a chance for the visitor to meet and converse with the writers and illustrators of their favorite comic book, authors of their favorite fantasy/science fiction books. There are sneak peaks for up and coming events, shows, movies, and panels in which attendees can ask questions of numerous cast members from a specific series or movie. In addition to all of this you were able to see prop designers who created the amazing equipment, costumes, and other items used in their favorite programs or shows. It also gave fans and collectors a chance to purchase some of these items for their personal collections. But one fan favorite is the star cars from Nate’s Star Car Central who regularly appear at these events at the entrance to the convention center. It gives the attendees to this event a chance to get a picture of and look around some of the vehicles from their favorite movie or show. Many of these vehicles are exact duplicates of the on screen vehicles meticulously detailed to match the original vehicle along with several that were actually used on screen. The Long Beach Comic Expo was a very enjoyable weekend and a fantastic lead in to the San Diego Comic-Con in July. For more information on Comic-Con events visit: http://www.comic-con.org/cci 94
