3rd Place Winner – Judy Hall-Folde
Art has been a part of Judy's life since childhood. In the early
2000's, a Nikon D40X was purchased and the journey began.
Judy's philosophy on art is that it is the window to your soul.
The love of life and nature might be what you glimpse when
you view her work. The goal she has set for her art is to create
beauty and meaning through different mediums that will touch
your heart and bring you joy!

Nature Painted the Desert © Judy Hall-Folde. A beautiful capture of
the vivid purple, ocher and red hues found in this remarkable ancient
landscape.
In 1540 Spaniard explorers called this place El Desierto Pintado. We
can only imagine what they thought when they stumbled into this
colorful portion of the Navajo and Hopi lands. I'm sure they had at
least some feelings of awe and amazement.
The Painted Desert is composed of mud stone, silt stone and shale,
which easily erode. The abundant amounts of iron and manganese
provide the beautiful array of colors.
If you keep a watchful eye out when wandering around the area you
might see some of the many fossilized prehistoric plants and animals
found here, as well as dinosaur footprints and the evidence of early
man's presence here.
