Hollywood Boulevard. © Cindy Ackley Nunn. The Urban Landscape Contest Winners by Cindy Ackley Nunn We recently hosted a contest through our Eye on Fine Art Photography group at Fine Art America. We knew that this sort of theme left it wide open for all kinds of representations of the urban landscape, but never dreamed that there would end up being so many superb submissions. Hand choosing the runners up for inclusion has been a very difficult task, and we sincerely regret that we have to work within fairly strict page limitations for the publication. We had to view over 600 submissions, and then go through the painful process of choosing only a few. If you would like to see all of the submissions please visit the contest at: http://fineartamerica.com/contests/the-urban-landscape.html Our 1st Place winner is Joan Carroll of Fort Worth, Texas, with her image entitled Texas and Pacific Building in Fort Worth, Texas. It is a fantastic image with the building rising up majestically in the background, while the trees and lights of the Fort Forth Water Gardens add a touch of elegance in the foreground. In 2nd Place we have Mel Steinhauer of Crestview Hills, Kentucky, with his image entitled “Colors of Quebec 15,” a brilliant and vibrant capture of the historic Rue Sous le Fort, showcasing the old world charm that still exists in the heart of urban Quebec, Canada. We had a tie for 3rd Place, JR Photography, of Vancouver, Canada, with his image entitled “Streets of Europe” a charming and thoroughly engaging capture of an old street in historic Schnoorviertel in Bremen, Germany, and Matt Hammerstein of Hartville, Ohio, with his image titled “Morning on the Chicago River,” a powerful and dynamic capture of this iconic city. Throughout the rest of the magazine you will also see the hand-picked Runners Up. 6
