OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY, HEALTH & SECURITY FALL 2015 REQUIRED COURSES Security for Managers and Supervisors Role of First Responders Certificate of Completion Notice: This certificate is in the process of closing. The last semester of classes offered will be in Fall 2015. The Program The program provides managers and prospective managers who have both safety and security responsibilities within their organizations with practical, hands-on training in how to implement and maintain a safe and secure work environment. All program instructors are experienced practitioners in their field of expertise. Classes are scheduled in the evenings and/or weekends to meet the needs of working adults. What You Will Learn Course instruction and materials will provide participants with the tools and guidelines required to manage security issues in the workplace. Participants will learn to: • Identify workplace security issues • Manage security concerns • Conduct accident/incident investigations • Address issues related to terrorism, natural disasters and workplace violence • Understand privacy and ethics considerations Who Should Attend Individuals responsible or seeking responsibility for implementing and maintaining a safe and secure work environment including: • Health and Safety professionals • Security personnel • Managers • Supervisors • Human Resource Directors • Risk Managers Special Features This program is recognized by the California Society of Safety & Security Professionals (CSSSP), FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security. Courses are offered for Continuing Educational Units (CEUs). Nationally recognized standards govern attendance requirements to earn CEU credit. A permanent record of attendance is established and students may obtain a copy of their transcripts by calling the Records Office at (310) 243-3621 Certificate Requirements A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon successful completion of six required courses plus one elective course. Elective courses are offered to suit the needs of individuals from various industries. Classes may be taken in any order according to individual needs. No: 42390 Intro to Cyberspace Security 2 CEUs This course provides essential knowledge to leverage best practices, regulatory requirements and information concerning real-world attacks on the overall security posture of an organization. Modification of employee attitude towards security behavior is emphasized.
