A New Way to Learn
CSUDH has developed an entirely new online
interactive educational experience. In some
ways, it’s even better than being in classroom!
Every week, a class is broadcast on cable TV
and the Web, and appears as streaming
video on your computer. Video, pictures,
graphics and other enriched media help
illustrate the lecture. Students can ask the
professor a question at any time via e-mail
or phone. Professors can also ask questions
during the class, and students respond
through the interactive features of the site.
Students can also chat with each other during the broadcast.
Most CSUDH internet classes are
conducted via the easy-to-use
Blackboard software
Visit the Blackboard website:
http://toro.csudh.edu
If students miss a broadcast or would like to
review the material, an archived video of the
class is available on the Web site. In
addition, every class has Blackboard Web
site, where, in between broadcasts, students
can download reading materials, participate
in threaded discussions, take quizzes and
turn in assignments.
Interactive courses and special programming
are produced by the Center for Mediated
Instruction and Distance Learning in
specially equipped studios and broadcast
live on DHTV, the television and Internet
program service of CSU Dominguez Hills.
Students and viewers may call a toll-free
800 number to be part of live, interactive
discussions by asking questions and sharing
comments with the instructor or in-studio
guest lecturers.
TV classes can be seen on a variety of cable
networks throughout Southern California
including LA36 (cable channel 36 throughout
the City of Los Angeles), on cable channel 6
in the South Bay region of Los Angeles
County (Torrance, Hawthorne, Lawndale,
Lomita, Gardena and El Segundo), cable
channel 64 in Pasadena and Altadena and
CityTV/cable channel 16 in Santa Monica
and an increasing number of other cable
systems throughout the region.
Be sure to check you local cable listings for
the channel location for DHTV in your area.

schedules and more, call the Center for
Mediated Instruction and Distance Learning
