Certificate of Completion
The Program
The Certificate of Completion will prepare an
individual with the fundamental knowledge
and skills necessary for web design.
What You Will Learn
In this series of courses you will learn the
fundamentals of HTML website creation. You
will also have experience with a web coding
application, a graphic design application,
and a multimedia animation application..
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded
upon the completion of four required
courses, and one elective. Those who do not
wish to pursue a certificate may take
individual classes. All courses provide
Continuing Education Units (CEUs). A
Certificate can be earned in one semester.

Business professionals and students who
want an intensive and thorough knowledge
of web design in a short period of time
should attend these classes.
Eligibility Requirements
Only limited computer experience is needed
to take these courses. Programming
experience is helpful, but not required.
Students should be familiar with using a
mouse, keyboarding, and simple keyboard
shortcuts.
Special Features
All classes are offered on the CSUDH campus
in Carson. The courses have been scheduled
for Fridays (evening) and Saturdays for the
convenience of working professionals.

Anissa Barton-Thompson, an Adobe
Certified Expert/user group manager and
full-time web developer/designer and trainer,
has taught website design at CSUDH since

Classes are held in the Extended
Education PC lab using Adobe Creative
Suite CS5 software.
Introduction to HTML

This course is an HTML beginning-level
workshop. Students will create a basic
website for business, a non-profit
organization, or for individual personal or
professional use.

This course builds on the skills gained in the
Introduction to HTML class, and introduces
HTML5 semantic pages with CSS styling.
Topics covered include: a quick review of
basic HTML structure, advanced tags,
images, using tables, divs and HTML5 to
organize content; how to implement
stylesheets to control site design; working
with form elements for user feedback.

navigation and adding additional featured
content.
