This project is fully funded and developed by MRCB and
is the first of 3 libraries that the company is donating
to 3 communities in the Klang Valley at a total cost
of RM30 million. It is now open to more than 20,000
residents living in the vicinity of this community
facility.
Malaysian
Resources Corporation Berhad’s
(MRCB) Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) driven
project 1Wilayah Persekutuan Library in Lembah
Pantai is a development of
this 17,000 square feet twostorey library on a 30,000
square feet piece of land
near the PPR was with the
cooperation of the Federal
Territories Ministry under
an MRCB corporate social
responsibility programme.
It was aimed for the
1Wilayah
Persekutuan
Library to be a place for
knowledge, research and
interaction
(including
business interaction) and
to encourage or impart
knowledge for community
volunteerism activities. The
project was mooted by the
former Federal Territories
and Urban Wellbeing Minister, YM Datuk Seri Utama
Raja Nong Chik Bin Dato’
Raja Zainal Abidin, as an
initiative to upgrade public
facilities in the city as well
as to assist the lower-income group by showcasing
the importance of education.
This CSR effort is considered as part of MRCB’s
urban regeneration and
sustainability development
philosophy.
In his speech at the
launching ceremony YBhg
Dato’ Haji Ishak Bin Haji
Mohamed, MRCB’s Executive Vice President said,
“Focus on the redevelopment of urban areas, or
Urban Regeneration, is not
something new to MRCB. In
fact, the process to continue
to strengthen growth in urban areas is our philosophy
at MRCB.”
“We constantly look at
any opportunity to develop
areas around the Klang Valley and Kuala Lumpur in
particular, which require
rejuvenation and a new
lease in life as centre of
growth for the benefit of all
levels of society”.
