Eleni Naomi is a Nashville-based singer/songwriter, artist, musician and worship leader. Her original music, which she calls, "Soul Jazz for Jesus" is inspired by the timeless styles of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday mixed with the soulful sounds of gospel singers like Dorinda Clark-Cole. It brings a whole new flavor to today's Christian music. Listeners have compared her voice to a diverse array of artists such as Adele, Fiona Apple, Amy Lee (Evanescence) and Francesca Battistelli, but her musical style and message leave most at a loss to place her in an existing genre.
Whether weaving a deep spiritual message into a bouncing, light-hearted jazz tune or baring her heart through a soulful ballad, Eleni seeks to reach others with the hope that has "radically and completely" changed her life. She says, "Music can be so disarming, and my vision for sharing the truth of Jesus through this style is to bypass people's defenses before they have a chance to shut it out. We need people who minister in the church, and I have a heart for that as well, but I cannot ignore the longing to bring the Light out into the darkness and see the dead come to life."
As she's continued performing, she has connected with several other creative music evangelists. In November of 2013, she put together what would become a monthly music event called Lite Brite Artist Nite to bring those artists together. The network of artists continues to grow as does the event's support, and it will soon be expanding beyond the borders of Nashville. To echo the tagline for the event, "Let there be Lite!"
