CSM Game-Changer Issue with Cristiano Ronaldo 2019 GAME-CHANGER ISSUE - Heather Blackburn | Page 322

CSM: This is your feature debut to be on Center Stage Magazine, what is the experience like when you are included in our roster for 2019’s game-changer is- sue? ROXANNE: The opportunity to be featured is in- credible on its own. To be a game-changer is just mind blowing for me. Everyday I get up and chal- lenge myself to be my best and do everything I can with opportunities given and those I fight for. To be seen next to others that I see in Awe is an amazing feeling. 9 years ago I ‘retired’ to stay home and raise our children. Not being a person to sit still very long I started my own journey to be healthier after giving birth to twin boys. Wanting all of the right informa- tion as others had started asking me how I became a Certified Personal Trainer and Sports Nutrition- ist. My passion soon became my very own business. Now having gone back to work full time in Corpo- rate Real Estate I am always having those discussions with others about my passion and how it is still very much a part of my everyday life. CSM: What do you think makes Center Stage Maga- zine stand-out or makes it unique in other publica- tions around the globe? ROXANNE: Center Stage Magazine shows real peo- ple in real life and how they are incorporating fitness and beauty. Being fit and beautiful is not what we typically see in magazines as you can never be sure that is has been altered or changed because one per- son didn’t see it as their definition of beauty. Center stage Magazine shows all forms and ways of being beautiful. CSM: What are the duties and responsibilities that entail to your current profession or career? ROXANNE: Being a business development profes- sional, I am responsible for creating new opportuni- ties for my company. I am involved in organizations within Corporate Real Estate and building relation- ships. Within those relationships I am sharing what my company does and how we can assist others with our work. CSM: This year’s bimonthly edition is about going for game-changing results in careers and individuality and inspiring people (being a beacon of inspiration); describe how did you exude your game-changing ex- cellence and confidence in your career and what did you do to push that boundaries ROXANNE: After being home with my children for eight years and running my own business I was ask- ing a company to take a chance on me and trusting that I was capable of helping them build their busi- ness with my skills. I knew I was capable but only had my business to show for it. It has been less then two years and I have exceeded my own expectations. I have colleagues in the industry to call friends and made connections that some say are not easy tasks. I just do! Boundaries are typically made by ourselves and its fear talking us down. Be the beacon and help to lead others. CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required for this profession. Have you ever made or encountered difficult decisions? How did you manage that? ROXANNE: We all face difficult decisions at times. I like to take step back and look at the situation from more than just my perspective. Or maybe just away from my emotions. Getting another opinion or sim- ply talking it out is also very helpful. Those difficult decisions could be a huge step in your career or may- be its something holding you back from your past. Whatever it is I never rush the decision and eventu- ally make that leap or I may regret it. CSM: How do you handle the situation if people get intimidated by you and your work? ROXANNE: Intimidation is not always obvious but I believe it stems from fear or a sense of per- sonal challenge. We are all capable of such wonder- ful things but not everyone believes in themselves. Times when I have felt intimidated I can always find a personal stem from that feeling within myself. Maybe I was doubting my career and if I was really doing my job well when I met a new colleague and they were discussing recent triumphs in their own ca- reer. If someone were to share that they had a sense of intimidation by me I would ask that they reflect upon themselves and find why. CSM: What game-changing results do you look for- ward this year? ROXANNE: Personal development and growth are a constant work in progress. I set goals for myself and aim high every year. I am working towards certi- fications that will be beneficial in my field and being able to assist clients more proficiently. CSM: Describe the person who made an impact in your life and how that is significant. ROXANNE: If you know me and my past then when I say no one until my husband came into my life then you would not be surprised. While life has not al- ways been easy, he has been my steady rock. He has always believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. Together we have built a life and family de- spite all obstacles. He was my missing piece. CSM: How do you set goals for yourself? ROXANNE: Just like many do at New Years I evalu- ate the last year and things that I want to accomplish. I write down basics like vacation destinations and classes to take, but then I have to decided the How. How will I get to that destination? When do I take that class? If I do not create the plan with it then it will simply stay a wish. By creating a plan, sharing it with those close to me and having it written down it now is a goal that I can reach. CSM: What exactly motivates you to be a game- changer and how do you do it? ROXANNE: Growing up we were very poor and life was not very stable. I knew from a very young age that I did not like that feeling and I wanted dif- ferent for my future and my family. Game changing for me was to break those cycles and the statistics
