CSM: How do you keep yourself educated or updated
for latest trends and information in healthy living or life-
style?
ROXANNE: I try to research as much as I can, along
with keeping my certification up to date with CEC’s. I
am currently taking a Fitness Nutrition Certification class
and have one more certification to complete in Corrective
Exercise Specialist. Social media helps with staying up-
dated on trends, but certifications and education classes’
helps me to stay up to date on healthy living & lifestyle
changes.
CSM: How important is food and nutrition to you as a
model, athlete or as an individual?
ROXANNE: Food and nutrition is the most important in
this lifestyle.
CSM: Describe the essential skills to be effective in main-
taining your figure or shape.
ROXANNE: Nutrition is key. I have stated previously that
hard work & dedication is important, but if your nutrition
is not good, then you will be spinning your wheels.
CSM: What are your ideas about non-organic food versus
organic?
ROXANNE: I don’t really have a view on this. I don’t
typically buy organic foods. I don’t have a particular rea-
son why, I just have never done enough research on the
topic.
CSM: What are your views on an all-meat diet versus a
vegan diet?
ROXANNE: I think that a person should follow what
makes them feel the best. For me its eating a lot of lean
meats and vegetables. I don’t think my body would toler-
ate a vegan diet. I would never tell someone that they had
to eat all meat diet. Each person’s body and what works
for them is different.
CSM: What groups of food do you usually eat?
ROXANNE: Lean Proteins, Healthy fats and complex car-
bohydrates. I LOVE SUGAR. I tend to gravitate towards
homemade sweets and must curb that on most occasions.
On some days, I can just take a bite and be satisfied. DID I
mention my obsession with Peanut Butter?? Peanut Butter
should have its own Food Group.
CSM: Do you think customized meal plans are really nec-
essary? Why is that?
ROXANNE: I think for someone who wants to be a com-
petitor a Meal plan is a necessity. I think the structure is
better for that type of athlete and for transforming the
body.
CSM: Any fitness goals for yourself? What are you aim-
ing now?
ROXANNE: Right now, I am aiming to gain more mus-
cle this year. I am changing up my workouts to meet this
goal.
CSM: There are a lot of online coaches and lifestyle ad-
visers out in the market already, what are the factors that
people should take into consideration when hiring a per-
sonal trainer or online coaches or maybe investing some
time and money to them?
ROXANNE: Do your research on them. I Had a coach
that seemed to be well known, but turned out to be some-
one that many should of probably stayed away from. Ask
questions, not just with the coach, but with clients past
and present. When selecting a Personal Trainer, it is im-
portant to find one that listens and is willing to customize
their program to fit each individual.
CSM: As a fitness and health enthusiast, what are the es-
sential exercises you have to do? Why is that?
ROXANNE: Squats, lunges, dead lifts, pushups, bench
presses, overhead presses, rows, pull ups, farmers walks.
I think that each of these exercises are main movements
that will form the foundation of your training. These are
a lot of my favorites. Stretching is also vital to your rou-
tine.
CSM: Do you have any gym etiquette advice for other
people?
ROXANNE: DO NOT JUDGE OTHERS. EVER! IT’S
NOT OK. Be respectful and clean up after yourself.
CSM: Fact or myth? Does working out daily improve
one’s sexual stamina or prowess during sexual activity?
Why do you say so?
ROXANNE: I would not necessarily say yes to working
out every day, but Yes, I think that if you are happy with
your progress from your workouts, and it makes you feel
sexy, then you will Be sexy. Moves that improve your
flexibility and cardiovascular Training can do wonders for
each of us as well.
CSM: Fact or myth? Does living a healthy lifestyle keeps
you happy and young? Why is that?
ROXANNE: I think that Physical and emotional Health
can trigger happiness. I believe that yoyo dieting can
starve you of happiness. Dieting verses lifestyle changes
are very different. We all age, but age is just a number.
I believe that we adapt to unhealthy lifestyles and think
that we are happy. I know I Felt happy when I was 60lbs
heavier 20 years ago, but I did not look healthy, and I
hated the way I looked. I was not happy on the inside.
CSM: If you are our health ambassador and a lifestyle
advocate, how would you help promote healthy living in
school or in corporate world?
ROXANNE: I would start by teaching proper nutrition. I
feel that once people are educated on what they are eating
and how to properly eat it, they would be more inclined to
make healthier choices. Then
the physical aspect of a healthy lifestyle can be taught
next.
CSM: A lot of your followers are curious to know these, if
there’s any food and beverage that you cannot resist what
would that be and why?
ROXANNE: I can resist most beverages, but coffee is one
of my staples. I enjoy it either hot or cold. Desserts are
one of my weaknesses. Especially cake, milk duds and
any type of desserts made with Peanut Butter.
CSM: Any advice to individuals who wants to gain
weight and lean muscle? Advise to people who want to
lose weight and be sexy?
ROXANNE: If you want to gain weight and lean muscle,
I would suggest eating frequently, with lots of Lean pro-
teins. Make sure to get your training in each week. I would
say 3-5x a week, or more if your body can handle it. If you
want to lose weight, I would suggest eating Less than you
do now and to move more. Pick up some weight. Get your
weight training in. Drink lots of water; throw away any
foods that are tempting you that will hinder your results.
Have quick and simple food options ready for when you
can’t prepare food. I think you can be sexy, with weight
and lean muscle, or lean. it’s a feeling and you must be
confident in your own body.
