CSM Game-Changer Issue with Cristiano Ronaldo 2019 GAME-CHANGER ISSUE - Heather Blackburn | Page 276
CSM: How do you keep yourself educated or updat-
ed for latest trends and information in healthy living
or lifestyle?
MYRON: Research and networking, the latest trends
on social media. Through my job and others who
have similar interests and hobbies. Reading and trav-
elling and learning to a better person with everyday
that goes by. Learning from my mistakes and being
professional within my job; going on various courses
and studying so that my skills are always sharp and
advanced so that I stay can on track. As the saying
goes, everyday is a school day.
CSM: How important is food and nutrition to you as
a model, athlete or as an individual?
MYRON: It is crucial that my diet is a lifestyle choice
and imperative that you enjoy it and becomes part of
your movement, whether you train, or you don’t. It
isn’t for the faint hearted. More importantly it is not a
chore, it isn’t by any means a temporary fix. Over the
years you get better with it, you learn when to have
a cheat meal and when to be slightly more flexible.
As a result of doing diet plans for clients and close
family and friends, it’s fair to say it does become
second nature. As I am predominantly always doing
some form of training just like an athlete, I want to
do all the right things for myself, you do become a
role model to others as well. Its so important to stay
grounded through the good the bad and the ugly. Fit-
ness and Health has enabled me to be a better per-
son and in some ways is my escapism and is a very
healthy release. It is the healthiest journey for me a
highly addictive in the right way, I wouldn’t have it
any other way.
CSM: Describe the essential skills to be effective in
maintaining your figure or shape.
MYRON: Train, eat the right nutritional foods, rest
well, sleep well, enjoy your journey and aim high
and set yourself realistic goals and incorporate it into
your lifestyle; but make time, do not make excuses!!
CSM: What are your ideas about non-organic food
versus organic?
MYRON: I just believe that it’s personal preferences
really. I personally eat a mixture of both. Organic
food is very good for your immune system and di-
gestive system and is a fantastic source of energy
for your body metabolism. I ensure that I consume a
balance diet of fruit and vegetables every single day
or at least 6 days a week. Variety and moderation of
all healthy nutrients is vital to everyday life in func-
tioning the right way and fighting off viruses and ill-
ness.
CSM: What are your views on an all-meat diet versus
a vegan diet?
MYRON: The less meat the better because it takes
days and even week to digest depending on your di-
gestive system. To be fair I stay away from red meat
as much as possible to be honest because my body
doesn’t agree with it. However, I prefer to eat white
meat a couple times a week as it increases my energy
levels on different types of training I perform. I’m
aware that you can get this from fruits and vegetables
of course. But variety is the spice of life right! So
yes, I’m all for mixing both to be honest, I’m a bit
‘old skool’ like that. Some of my friends are vegan,
vegetarian, pescatarian and none of these or simply
just a mixture. But more importantly if anyone is
thinking of switching to a vegan, it’s a progressive
transition and a lifestyle choice, so be very patient
and do not be too hard on yourself if you’re think-
ing about going into healthier habits. I do eat a lot of
plant-based nutrition anyway but consume lean meat
like fish for instance which is full of omega 3 and
healthy rich fats.
CSM: What groups of food do you usually eat?
MYRON: Plant-based nutrition…. Fruit, vegetables
and complex carbohydrates and lean healthy pro-
tein.
CSM: Do you think customized meal plans are really
necessary? Why is that?
MYRON: Yes, I like customized meals before there
are boundaries in pace for you to stick too, which
means you’re on the right track to becoming healthier
and fitter. You can maintain weight, lose weight and
stay in control of calorie intake. Goals can be set in
place and anything is achieved with a good plan set.
CSM: Any fitness goals for yourself? What are you
aiming now?
MYRON: At the moment I’m literally just enjoying
eating healthy and enjoying my training and mak-
ing a difference. I am expecting a daughter in two
months from today. But yes, I’d love to do more
modelling and potential a fitness model competition
when things are a little more settled with my fitness
studio. That is a possibility doing a competition it has
always been at the back of my mind for many years
now in all fairness.
CSM: There are a lot of online coaches and lifestyle
advisers out in the market already, what are the fac-
tors that people should take into consideration when
hiring a personal trainer or online coaches or maybe
investing some time and money to them?
MYRON: You have to stay dedicated and remain fo-
cused if you’re paying any fitness professional for
their time. Ensuring that you know it is a lifestyle
change not a chore. It clearly means you are serious
about fitness. Although you are paying someone for
their services; you still have to be responsible for
your own actions and not just relying on the guid-
ance and expert advice. You are not alone of course,
but ultimately only you can really put that hard work
and dedication. Whether that is nutrition and fitness.
Online support and advice are different then face to
face.
