CSM Game-Changer Issue with Cristiano Ronaldo 2019 GAME-CHANGER ISSUE - Heather Blackburn | Page 258
CSM: This is your feature debut to be on Center Stage
Magazine, what is the experience like when you are
included in our roster for 2019’s game-changer is-
sue?
LISA: I was very excited and blown away that I re-
ceived this opportunity. I am blessed to have such an
amazing crew around me that helped me get to this
point. Knots” with a yellow ribbon on the sleeve. We will
be setting aside a percentage of each sale to donate to
the annual suicide awareness walk that we do every
October.
CSM: What do you think makes Center Stage Maga-
zine stand-out or makes it unique in other publica-
tions around the globe?
LISA: These models are sincere, dedicated and hard-
working and the magazine comes off as humble. CSM: What exactly motivates you to be a game-
changer and how do you do it?
LISA: If my passion is not present in my career, then
clients would feel the energy through my hands.
Knowing that I have over 600 clients in my data-
base motivates me because it tells me that I am doing
something right!
CSM: What are the duties and responsibilities that
entail to your current profession or career?
LISA: I have three staff members; one receptionist,
and two other massage therapists. I ensure that over-
head gets paid, clients are happy, and my mission
is for them to re book their massage. I also perform
massage therapy and my job is to massage people
when I am in the massage room.
CSM: This year’s bimonthly edition is about going
for game-changing results in careers and individuality
and inspiring people (being a beacon of inspiration);
describe how did you exude your game-changing ex-
cellence and confidence in your career and what did
you do to push that boundaries
LISA: I always had a vision to have my own suite
and staff members. Last year I had the lease handed
to me and without hesitation I dove right in and re-
paired every single thing in the building; painting,
the lobby, created a reception area, hired help and
completely gutted the bathroom so it had a vanity
and bigger mirror. I had a vision and I made it.
CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required for
this profession. Have you ever made or encountered
difficult decisions? How did you manage that?
LISA: I have had to deal with clients that want to
use multiple coupons for their massages. I only al-
low one coupon per client, which resulted in me tell-
ing the client that we do offer package rates to keep
our massage rates low and in which we were unable
to accept multiple coupons from clients per the fine
print. I have also had to let clients know when I was
unable to perform their massage because they just
had surgery and were on heavy medications or have
come in intoxicated.
CSM: How do you handle the situation if people get
intimidated by you and your work?
LISA: I don’t. I am confident in my career, after ten
years, to know the in’s and outs of what to expect in
the massage industry.
CSM: What game-changing results do you look for-
ward this year?
LISA: I am opening up my retail line that supports a
play on words with my business and supports suicide
awareness. My business has the name of “Kneaded
Knots” Shirts will say “I am Kneaded at Kneaded
CSM: How do you set goals for yourself?
LISA: I find something I admire about other business
owners and I make it happen without excuses.
CSM: Describe the true nature of being sexy and an
eye-catching individual.
LISA: Confidence to the fullest capacity!!
CSM: The industry you are in right now is very fast-
paced, full of competition and full of talent and un-
avoidable politics at times. What makes you stand
out and how do you keep up with talented people
around you?
LISA: San Diego is the second highest city for sex-
trafficking and business licenses are becoming hard-
er to get. I am proud to say that we ensure a healthy,
safety environment for all clients. As far as politics
go, they are everywhere and I just let the negativity
slide off of me. I know who I am, I know what my
goals are.
CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful
in this type of profession?
LISA: Dedication every single day.
CSM: What is your great advice to those who will
venture this kind of work?
LISA: The first three years is hard, you are learning
a lot of new techniques, working on a lot of people
and working under someone. This field takes a lot of
drive to at first sustain your rapport because this field
does not have portfolios. It is all word of mouth.
CSM: Cast a magic spell and wave your magic wand,
where do you see yourself ten years from now?
LISA: Sitting at home, while my massage business
runs being a boss!
