CSM Game-Changer Issue with Cristiano Ronaldo 2019 GAME-CHANGER ISSUE - Heather Blackburn | Page 218
CSM: This is your feature debut to be on Center Stage
Magazine, what is the experience like when you are
included in our roster for 2019’s game-changer is-
sue?
KALYNNE: It’s exciting, and such an honor to be
featured along with so hard working and strong
women.
CSM: What do you think makes Center Stage Maga-
zine stand-out or makes it unique in other publica-
tions around the globe?
KALYNNE: CSM features a range of athletes and
body types, and strength is encouraged, rather than
trying to tell all woken “skinny is healthy”
CSM: What are the duties and responsibilities that
entail to your current profession or career?
KALYNNE: I consult and recruit doctors, so it’s of
the up most importance to find a good professional
and personal fit. We get the honor of finding doctors
and helping them finds a practice where they have a
large impact on communities in need.
CSM: This year’s bimonthly edition is about going
for game-changing results in careers and individuality
and inspiring people (being a beacon of inspiration);
describe how did you exude your game-changing ex-
cellence and confidence in your career and what did
you do to push that boundaries
KALYNNE: Prioritization is huge personally and
professionally. Setting goals and as obstacles pres-
ent themselves, instead of stressing out, I ask my-
self, “What category does this fall into in regard to
my overall result I’m aiming for?” 1) Important and
urgent 2) Important but not urgent 3) urgent but not
important or 4) Not Important not urgent. This re-
ally helps me keep things in perspective, and at the
end of the day, when you know you’ve pushed your-
self, confidence comes naturally because you know
you’re working on being your best self.
CSM: Being assertive and attentive is required for
this profession. Have you ever made or encountered
difficult decisions? How did you manage that?
KALYNNE: I think all athletes will encounter dif-
ficult decisions at some point, but I take a step back,
breath, and prioritize. You have to be rational about
making decisions when pushing yourself to limits
like competitors do. Being assertive is important, es-
pecially when it is regards to your time. I find myself
having to set those boundaries for others because a
lot of people do not understand how precious your
time is, and it can definitely be difficult doing so with
tact. Especially if you’re so deep in prep, you would
do anything for a spoon of peanut butter!
CSM: How do you handle the situation if people get
intimidated by you and your work?
KALYNNE: I kill them with kindness, if they are in-
timidated professionally or socially, usually they get
past it once they realize you’re also just a person with
flaws.
CSM: What game-changing results do you look for-
ward this year?
KALYNNE: My focus this year is going to be quite
different; I don’t plan on stepping on stage because
I’m planning a wedding! So still health focused, but
my goals for my body will not be as extreme. This
year is all about finding balance and in turn, finding
a routine that caters to a more “slow and steady” ap-
proach.
CSM: Describe the person who made an impact in
your life and how that is significant.
KALYNNE: My Nana! She broke her back in a car
accident in 1990, and was told she would likely nev-
er walk again. Not only is she walking, but at a few
years ago she decided to get healthy, and lost 65 lbs!
It’s never too late to make a change!
CSM: How do you set goals for yourself?
KALYNNE: I always just try and beat the person I
am. I look at people who are where I want to be and
see what I need to do to get there. If I know the per-
son, I’ll ask what was instrumental mentally for them
to get where they are.
CSM: What exactly motivates you to be a game-
changer and how do you do it?
KALYNNE: I try not to focus on anyone else, and
have to trust the process and have fun with it!
CSM: Describe the true nature of being sexy and an
eye-catching individual.
KALYNNE: Be humble. The package means very
little if you’re not a good person on the inside.
CSM: The industry you are in right now is very fast-
paced, full of competition and full of talent and un-
avoidable politics at times. What makes you stand
out and how do you keep up with talented people
around you?
KALYNNE: Different judges look for different
things. Some like super hard, some like softer, know
your audience, and your body, and pick shows that
suit you. You should always push yourself, but if you
are your own most stiff competition. And judges re-
member you, I see athletes’ trash judges and other
athletes all the time because they didn’t place how
they feel they should have… don’t do that! Take the
feedback and put it to work!
CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful
in this type of profession?
KALYNNE: Determination, there will always be
days where you don’t feel like it, or you feel that
you’re missing out on something. You can’t let those
sacrifices be in vain.
CSM: What is your great advice to those who will
venture this kind of work?
KALYNNE: Research coaches. There’s a big differ-
ence in a personal trainer and a prep coach. Your sup-
port team matters!
CSM: Cast a magic spell and wave your magic wand,
where do you see yourself ten years from now?
KALYNNE: Still training and eating healthy, and
passing those habits to a little one most likely.
