CSM Game-Changer Issue with Cristiano Ronaldo 2019 GAME-CHANGER ISSUE - Heather Blackburn | Page 193
CSM: What exactly motivates you to be a
game-changer and how do you do it?
HEATHER: The fact that most people think
they can’t do many of the things I have been
able to do is motivating. I am just like every
other person out there but I am disciplined
and I am confident that if I really want to get
something done I have to work hard and I will
be rewarded.
CSM: Describe the true nature of being
sexy and an eye-catching individual.
HEATHER: The true nature of being sexy or
eye catching has to come from within. It’s so
much more than physical appearance. Being
comfortable with yourself, knowing who you
are and being able to express that is what will
get noticed.
CSM: The industry you are in right now is
very fast-paced, full of competition and full
of talent and unavoidable politics at times.
What makes you stand out and how do you
keep up with talented people around you?
HEATHER: Being talented will take you a
long way but it seems to be hard to find honest
and loyal people these days and I happen to
be one of them. It also seems that most people
are only looking out for themselves and disre-
garding others and that’s just not something
I can do.
CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be
successful in this type of profession?
HEATHER: Caring about people and hav-
ing the ability to build relationships with each
patient. As well as being able to effectively
treat each patient.
CSM: What is your great advice to those
who will venture this kind of work?
HEATHER: Go for it! I love my job. My ad-
vice to anyone wanting to be a Dental Hy-
gienist is to study hard in school and it may
be tough but you can do it. Once in the career
field spend time learning about each patient,
build those relationships because that builds
trust. Plus, some patients have really great
stories and life experiences they would love
to share with you.
CSM: Cast a magic spell and wave your
magic wand, where do you see yourself ten
years from now?
HEATHER: Ten years from now I see myself
working less, and travelling more!
