CSM Game-Changer Issue with Cristiano Ronaldo 2019 BODY ISSUE - Lauren Flodquist | Page 286
CSM: How do you keep yourself educated or updated
for latest trends and information in healthy living or
lifestyle?
QUINN: Unfortunately a lot of information out there is
crap. So I just stick to what I know works for me and
keep going with that.
CSM: How important is food and nutrition to you as a
model, athlete or as an individual?
QUINN: In general food and nutrition should come
first and foremost for anyone not just athletes. I don’t
always eat the cleanest but in terms of sustainability, I
have found what I can do and be happy with.
CSM: Describe the essential skills to be effective in
maintaining your figure or shape.
QUINN: Being able to understand the type of training
that you need to do in order to achieve the next goal. If
you are doing the wrong training and eating the wrong
food you’re going to look like crap, or not as good as
you’d hoped.
CSM: What are your ideas about non-organic food ver-
sus organic?
QUINN: I feel like organic is just healthier. I don’t like
to eat processed food. I try to keep my diet to whole
foods which have the most nutrition for your buck.
CSM: What are your views on an all-meat diet versus
a vegan diet?
QUINN: I don’t think there is a perfect “diet” But what
I’ve found in my life is that the more vegetables and
fruit that I eat; the healthier I look and feel. Along
with that I limit the amount of meat I consume because
I have gout.
CSM: What groups of food do you usually eat?
QUINN: I eat everything and don’t discriminate. Pretty
sure I have a food addiction…
CSM: Do you think customized meal plans are really
necessary? Why is that?
QUINN: I don’t think they’re necessary because it isn’t
sustainable. But, they can most certainly help, espe-
cially if someone needs help with figuring out the types
of food to be eating.
CSM: Any fitness goals for yourself? What are you
aiming now?
QUINN: At the moment I’m trying to maintain my
muscle mass and lose just a bit more body fat to look
lean for shoots coming up.
CSM: There are a lot of online coaches and lifestyle
advisers out in the market already, what are the factors
that people should take into consideration when hiring
a personal trainer or online coaches or maybe investing
some time and money to them?
QUINN: There are a few factors but you want to mesh
well with the coach, first and foremost. If you don’t
get along then you’re not going to do what they say to
do. Secondly you have to make sure what they’re doing
is something you can do for the long haul. Sustain-
ability is so important and if you can’t continue doing
it after you’re done working with someone then what’s
the point?
CSM: As a fitness and health enthusiast, what are the
essential exercises you have to do? Why is that?
QUINN: I don’t find any of them to be essential. I just
go in and workout 1-2 body parts a day with cardio 3-4
times a week. Staying in shape is a dedication. I can’t
give you a magic exercise that’s going to be the be all
end all for your fitness goals.
CSM: Do you have any gym etiquette advice for other
people?
QUINN: Rack your damn weights. If you’re on your
phone, don’t be on a piece of equipment. If you’re a
sweater, clean up after yourself and for the love of God,
wear deodorant!
CSM: Fact or myth? Does working out daily improve
one’s sexual stamina or prowess during sexual activity?
Why do you say so?
QUINN: I wouldn’t know. I’ve been working out for
almost 10 years now and I feel like my sexual desire is
just about the same. But there are studies that show it
going in both directions. Some say men’s natural tes-
tosterone is too busy going to the muscle so their sexual
drive decreases. Others say lifting increases the free
flow of testosterone so it increases their drive. It’s all
case by case.
CSM: Fact or myth? Does living a healthy lifestyle
keeps you happy and young? Why is that?
QUINN: Fact, show me someone in their 40s who’s
been working out and exercising for 25 years, and show
me someone who’s been working a desk job 9-5 and
not exercising in the same age group. I can promise the
first person is going to look and feel a long younger.
CSM: If you are our health ambassador and a lifestyle
advocate, how would you help promote healthy living
in school or in corporate world?
QUINN: Well to start, any school that removed P.E.
from their regime needs to be reversed. In the corpo-
rate world I would say that there should be a 1-2 hour
window where the employees of the company must get
up and go do something. Any activity is better than sit-
ting stagnant. Our bodies were meant to move, and
hunt and run and jump.
CSM: A lot of your followers are curious to know these,
if there’s any food and beverage that you cannot resist
what would that be and why?
QUINN: Donuts. If they’ve followed me for a little
while they know that I can’t resist. If there is a dozen
in front of me I will have at least one.
CSM: Any advice to individuals who wants to gain
weight and lean muscle? Advise to people who want to
lose weight and be sexy?
QUINN: Gain: Eat clean and exercise, but eat more
than you burn in a day and you will make clean gains.
Lose: Eat clean and exercise, but eat less than you burn
in a day and you will lose weight. People try to make it
rocket science when fitness is actually extremely sim-
ple.
