CSM Game-Changer Issue with Cristiano Ronaldo 2019 BODY ISSUE - Lauren Flodquist | Page 163

CSM: Describe the person who made an impact in your life and how that is significant. MARCO: Funnily enough, the biggest inspiration for me is not someone from the fitness industry - it’s Tony Robbins. He is the perfect example that you don’t need any resources in order to become success- ful. He’s had a horrible childhood but still managed to create something out of nothing. It’s important that you use your emotions about a cer- tain topic and convert them into energy for your own project. For me, this was mostly my fitness train- ing and the goal to achieve something that hasn’t been done before - becoming the first Swiss fitness model on an international cover. I read all of Tony’s books and studied success psychology because of him, which gave me tremendous amounts of energy and allowed me to push through any obstacles. It’s a shame we don’t learn more about this in school since the brain is so much more receptive when we’re younger. Going to his seminars was one of the best investments I’ve made. He is just a huge inspiration to me, in business as well as in private life. CSM: How do you set goals for yourself? MARCO: I first visualize the goal and how I would feel when I achieve it. Usually I get a lot of positive feelings when I do this. As result when you have all those positive feelings it makes it easier to go through the hard work of achieving it. After I visualized the goal, I set partial goals with deadlines when I want to have them achieved and also who could help me in this process. Once I achieved the first partial goals I always ask myself what I could have done better in order to use those learnings when going for the next partial goal as a part of the big goal. I’d generally advise people to use a vision board it helps a lot. CSM: What exactly motivates you to be a game- changer and how do you do it? MARCO: I like to be a role model for people who want to change something in their lives and that mo- tivates me. I know where I was in the past and what I was able to achieve with my attitude, mindset and hard work. So, helping others to find their way when it comes to improving their health and also generally finding a life path is something that gives me a lot of satisfaction and motivation. There is no better feeling seeing others succeed, because of the help and inspi- ration you gave them. My advice for people who want achieve something is not to see the pain of hard work. Instead start by seeing the benefits you‘ll get out of it and all the hard work comes easy to you. CSM: Describe the true nature of being sexy and an eye-catching individual. MARCO: I think it‘s important to love yourself be- fore you can love others and I totally do love myself. I really believe self-love is the foundation of build- ing any kind of relationship - to your loved ones, a partner and also clients. Another point that I want to mention here is approval and significance. Many people build their happiness by the approval they get from other people. We live in this Instagram world where people fake their life, put new filters, make it look different than it really is, tell stories that are totally full of it to make themselves look good…Fact is we life in this kind of false world where sadly sig- nificance is more important than love and it separates people from the real world. What has gone wrong that we value significance or the approvals of others more than real love from real friends - not Instagram followers?! CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be successful in this type of profession? MARCO: One factor is certainly the 14 years of ex- perience that I have because I had the chance to work with a wide range of clients. Whether male or fe- male, 20 or 60 years old, I learned to approach every single person individually and adapt to their different needs. Though I have completed some of the best training programs and learned from mentors worldwide, I think that the secret to my success is the experience I gained in my eight years as a professional athlete. It takes a huge amount of sacrifice and knowledge to just land one cover. I’ve been on 14 now, and in order to achieve that, I had to stay in perfect shape over all these years which required a lot of detailed knowledge. I have a talent to pass on all this knowl- edge I gained from my own experience in a way that resonates with my clients. And I’m credible because I practice what I preach. That turns me into a kind of role model for my clients which is a huge motivation for them. They see with their own eyes what’s pos- sible. CSM: What is your great advice to those who will venture this kind of work? MARCO: Stay authentic and don‘t try to be some- one else’s. Many people think it‘s easy to get such a physique and appear on multiple covers, but the fact is that it takes years of hard work and consistency. Remember it‘s not a sprint, it‘s a marathon. I‘d also advise people to keep a clean image on social me- dia. Don‘t expose yourself just for the likes and fol- lowers. Do it with your character and good content. When it comes to becoming a personal trainer it‘s crucial to have a good track record in terms of educa- tion. I‘ve been visiting the best educational programs in the industry over the course of the years. CSM: Cast a magic spell and wave your magic wand, where do you see yourself ten years from now? MARCO: Since I do have a vision board it‘s easy for me to answer this question. I think I‘ll be talking to huge crowds on a stage as a motivational speaker and life coach. I think I‘m the perfect example of how successful you can get with the right mindset and at- titude. My goal is to preach my way of thinking to a lot of people. Apart of that I‘ll still coach clients in personal training and have my own gym with my employees.
