CSM: The industry you are in right now is very
fast-paced, full of competition and full of talent
and unavoidable politics at times. What makes
you stand out and how do you keep up with tal-
ented people around you?
TARA: I do my best to stay as genuine as pos-
sible. That trait is what I believe draws me to
talented people and talented people to me. Like
attracts like.
CSM: Work-wise, what does it take to be suc-
cessful in this type of profession?
TARA: Dedication and flexibility. It can be chal-
lenging at times to accomplish our mission due
to other factors beyond our control. Having the
patience to be flexible goes a very long way.
As stated previously, I am a Veteran and have
worked on a Military Vessel, so I know what it is
like to work and live on a ship while deployed to
the Middle East. Quality of life can be challeng-
ing at times, so now that I am in this position it
is my goal to ensure that the Sailors and Marines
have what they need in a timely manner.
CSM: What is your great advice to those who
will venture this kind of work?
TARA: Learn everything you can about how the
Military operates and why. And most important-
ly understand the human aspect of it. That insight
alone will make the biggest impact on how you
will succeed in this time of work.
CSM: Cast a magic spell and wave your magic
wand, where do you see yourself ten years from
now?
TARA: Ten years from now…I hope to be a
mother influencing him/her to be awesome and
appreciate all the beauty of life. Additionally, I
want to continue to work in some sort of profes-
sion that impacts the greater good of many. I can-
not sit back and just watch life happen, I need to
be in the mix of all the chaos and helping make
it better.
