One Day Player of the Year Sponsored by Chris Cote's Golf Shop AHEAD OF THE REST E ach year the Al Acker One Day Championship at Shennecossett Golf Course marks not only the official end of the CSGA tournament season, but also the Chris Cote’s One Day Player of the Year race. Now in its fourth year, the One Day Player of the Year Points race is sponsored by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop in Portland, Connecticut. Players in both the Gross and Net flights of the Tettelbach and Siderowf Divisions can accumulated points based on their finish at One Day tournament throughout the season. A total of $4,000 in merchandise prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in each division. For the third consecutive season, Brent Dietz of Cedar Knob Golf Course captured the One Day Player of the Year honor in the Tettelbach Gross division. Dietz, who accumulated 744.2 points in 10 events, captured four titles throughout the season to go along with six other top 5 finishes. Dietz’s victories came at New Haven Country Club, the Golf Club at Oxford Greens, Suffield Country Club, and the Traditions Club at Oak Lane. Throughout his ten events, Dietz never recorded a finish worse than fourth. After finishing second in last season’s One Day Player of the Year race, Alden Foss of Stonybrook Golf Course managed to capture the honor this season accumulating 532.3 points in eleven events in the Tettelbach Net division. Foss recorded five top 10 finishes to go along with three victories this season. Foss, who captured the honor for the first time, earned his victories at Heritage Village Country Club, Torrington Country Club, and Ellington Ridge Country Club. In the Siderowf Gross division, Edward Cashman of the Middlesex Eclub charged to the One Day Player of the Year title winning four times throughout the season, including the Al Acker One Day Championship. In his nine events, Cashman never finished outside the top 10, capturing the honor by almost 300 points and earning his first One Day Player of the Year honor. The closest of all the divisions, the Siderowf Net One Day Player of the Year honor was captured by Tom Hurd of Great Neck Country Club. Hurd, who only needed four events to earn his 420 points, edged out Dominic Maselli by winning the Al Acker One Day Championship. Hurd recorded two other victories at Ellington Ridge Country Club and Heritage Village Country Club to go along with his second place finish at Twin Hills Country Club.
