A Call by the Conference of Stree Vimukthi Sanghatana
The conference of Stree Vimukthi Sanghatana was successfully concluded in Anantapur town in Andhra Pradesh on 9 th and 10 th of May 2023 . It was attended by delegates from erstwhile undivided 14 districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana . Fraternal delegates came from Odisha , Tamil Nadu and Karnataka .
The Proceedings of the Conference
The conference was started by the hoisting of flag of the organisation by its president Dr . C . Vijaya . In the inaugural session Comrade Ajitha proposed the resolution of condolence for the martyrs and it was adopted by the conference by observing silence . The session was presided by Comrade C . Vijaya . At the outset the president of the reception committee Dr . Suryasagar welcomed the gathering . Retired professor of Kakatiya University Prof . T . Jyothi Rani in her inaugural address remembered her long affinity with Stree Vimukthi Sanghatana . She explained how dubious are the policies of the governments and how they are leading the womenfolk in to further degradation . Renowned Writer Seela Subhadra Devi in her speech explained the necessity of reading progressive literature . On behalf of Manavatha Blood Donors Association Tarimela Amaranatha Reddy pointed out that most of the women are suffering from anaemia and they are to be duly educated in this aspect . The president and vice president of APTF , Chennupati Manjula and K . Ashok Kumar criticised sharply the education policy of the government . AIFTU ( New ) State President C . Peddanna mentioned the plight of women as unorganized sector workers . The General Secretary of PDSO Comrade A . Suresh condemned the unscientific educational system . Comrade Sk . Basha , the General Secretary of Nava Yuva Samaakhya explained how women are being victimised by the vicious culture that is being propagated by the imperialists .
The fraternal delegates from Karnataka , Odisha , Tamil Nadu , Telangana Comrades Laxmamma , Bhavani , Radha , Srilatha respectively gave their messages . The president and joint secretaries Dr . Chandanamithra , Thapathi Chatarjee and Munmun Biswas of Sramajeevi Naree Manch of Bengal who were unable to attend the conference under unavoidable circumstances sent their written messages wishing the conference a success and those messages were read by Dr . C . Vijaya . In this conference an English book , ‘ Historical Andhra State Women ’ s Conference : Aims , Objectives and Experiences ’ 28 was launched by Comrade Bhavani of Odisha . The art pieces by Manmayee Ratha , an artist from Odisha and a fraternal delegate were exhibited in the campus of the conference . Dr . Padma , the Chairperson of Gates Institution of Technology gave her message .
A procession was led by the artistes of Praja Kalaakaarula Samakhya with drums and dances . The members , leaders of Stree Vimukthi Sanghatana carried flags of the organisation and shouted slogans like ‘ Let us fight against exploitation patriarchy , oppression and communalism ’.
Before the public meeting the artistes of Praja Kalaakaarula Samakhya played a dance drama on martyrs , ‘ Netthuru Deepaalu ’. The public meeting was presided by the General Secretary of the organisation Comrade Laksmi . The state President of Raithu Coolie Sangham ( A . P .). Comrade S . Jhansi , Dr . B . Surya Sagar , Chairman of Tarimela Nagireddy Memorial Trust , S . M . Basha of Human Rights Forum , Dr . C . Vijaya , president of Stree Vimukthi Sanghatana also addressed the gathering .
The delegates ’ meeting was held on the second day of the conference . Comrade Jhansi addressed the delegates meeting . In her address she explained at length how religious traditions and rituals are hindering the progress of women and how women have to fight against them by forming into several associations .
Comrade Amalendu proposed some amendments to the manifesto of the Stree Vimukthi Sanghatana which were accepted by the delegates . Comrade Laxmi , the general secretary gave the report of activities from the last conference in 2014 and it was discussed and adopted . A new executive committee with 20 members was unanimously elected .
Earlier a reception committee was formed with Dr . Surya Sagar , Chairman of Tarimela Nagireddy Memorial Trust . A pamphlet explaining the activities of the organisation was widely circulated requesting funds by several squads of women . Several members of the reception committee also participated in this preparatory work . In before conference propaganda with pamphlets widely among the people of the town and nearby villages .
The following resolutions were adopted . Condemning the war between Ukraine and Russia , against the rapes and violence towards women , demanding the total
