Vol . 16 Issue : 12 December , 2024 Rs . 20 / - Elections of Exploiting Classes
Out of four assemblies in Haryana , Maharashtra , Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh , NDA alliance got success in 3 states . INDIA alliance got victory in Jharkhand . In Andhra Pradesh also there is NDA government . In Karnataka and Telangana congress governments are in power . In the bye election in Wayanad , Kerala , Priyanka Gandhi of Congress got victory . In the bye elections of Bengal and other states the ruling parties now who are in power got success .
Though the competition and rivalry among these parties appear like wrestling matches , actually it is only contradictions between comprador bourgeois classes . Each party is competing with other party in buying votes and candidates . Groups of candidates are easily defecting from their parties . The regional contradictions have been continuing in Maharashtra for a long time . In Vidarbha and Maratha regions agitations erupted with special demands . The BJP is seasoned in strengthening the regional differences by projecting a new leadership and making them heroes . They know fully well the worst consequences of this process . These communal intellectuals are playing the role of agents to comprador bourgeois class and imperialist corporates . Modern methods are being used by reactionaries . The principle of sama , dana , bheda , danda – ( conciliation , compensation , influence , punishment ) is smartly used by these forces to foster reactionism . They are crushing the opposition with these fascist tactics .
They are using mild to wild methods to strengthen reactionary spirit . Series of violent attacks are being continued on socially and economically oppressed masses , by the higher castes and new feudal lords . These appear on the surface as conflicts of bourgeois parties . But we have to understand them as the symbols of factionalism and maliciousness of the rural pettandar groups that are being postponed from some time . Competition for power even in gram panchayats – crores of rupees are being spent even at this level . These pettandars keep calculating which party ’ s government comes to power , so that they will acquire small and big contracts ; and they have nothing to do with the values . The party defections of these pettandars ( village bosses ) are to be examined critically in this angle also .
The Adivasi masses are suffocating by the policies of the government which are evacuating them from their age long forest dwellings . The peasants , workers and unemployed lot are able to understand the danger of privatisation in all sectors . Though they are boiling inside there is inertia in them . The rich and upper middle-class peasants are able to invest capital , their reputation in banks , and are able to experiment with modern techniques in agriculture and are enjoying somewhat social and political dominance . In spite of all this they are also forced to engage in long drawn agitations . Poor peasants of lower middle class and landless farm workers are migrating as their lives in their villages became unbearable . But still populist reforms , schemes , employment opportunities and pensions are keeping them in illusions . The exploiting forces are projecting the ideas of Sanatana Dharma , caste and its restrictions , religion and its practices so that the people do not consolidate into a fighting force . So these elections are exploiting classes elections and not of people . Unless the people develop awareness , the exploiting classes , one or the other will continue their rule . So democratic and revolutionary forces have to fight against these exploiting ruling classes .
