HOLMAN TABBED TO GET TRIBE BACK ON TRACK

By Jay Neal

The start of a new year in January also signaled a new beginning for Jacksonville Fightin ’ Indian football as Jason Holman was hired to take over for Wayne Coleman , who retired after guiding Jacksonville for the past seven years .

Holman , a 1990 graduate of Jacksonville High who was also a Tribe defensive standout , went on to play collegiatly at Stephen F . Austin State University , retuned home after serving as the head coach at Tatum where his teams went 19-12 in the e pasttwo seasons .
Holman said that it means a lot to him as a former Indian to have been selected to lead the Tribesmen back to glory and that he doesn ’ t take his duties lightly .
Holman hit the ground running and began forging out new relationships seemingly from Day 1 .
After bringing in Jason McClendon ( offense ) and Bradley Gandy ( defense ) as his coordinators , Holman tweaked the Tribe ’ s coaching staff during the off season .
When fall camp opened on Aug . 1 there was nearly 20-percent
more young men on the Jacksonville varsity , compared to a year ago . It definitely seems as though the student-athletes have responded well to the change at the top of the Indian football program . Jacksonville fans are hoping the changes eventually show up in
