Guard faced with overcoming heavy losses to graduation

If you see Brook Hill head football coach Scott Ryle carrying a bottle of Tums around with him , it will be for good reason .
May ’ s graduation claimed 82-percent of the young men who started for the Orange and Navy last season . That ’ s enough to give any coach indigestion .
Ryle and company will have to rebuild the offensive line first of all , as all the starters on the O-line walked down the aisle in the spring .
Jonah McCown transferred to Brook Hill from Jacksonville last winter and should be the team ’ s quarterback this year .
McCown , son of NFL veteran quarterback Luke McCown , certainly has the DNA to handle things under center for the Guard .
McCown will have three returning wideouts — Noah Langemeier , Von Dawson and Colton Richards — to throw to , which should help him to settle into his new role .
Braxton Durrett is being looked at at running back , but the Guard will have to develop a couple of more guys to help out running the ball .
There are plenty of openings on the defensive side for Brook Hill . Langemeier , Dawson and Richards are expected to be two-way starters at defensive back , giving the Orange and Navy a solid look in the defensive backfield .
Brook Hill dropped down from TAPPS Division II to Division III in the off season , which should make things a bit easier for the Guard this fall , despite the fact that perennial powerhouse Dallas Christian also slid down a notch and is in the same district as Brook Hill .
If the Guard can pick up at least couple of non-district wins , Brook Hill should be in a position to have success in district .
