On Board Norwegian Jewel and Seven Seas Mariner with John Treacy Norwegian Jewel arrived in local waters after a multi-million dollar bow-to-stern renovation following a two-week dry dock in Singapore (see photo on page 54). I had the opportunity to look over the ship and enjoy a delightful lunch when the ship visited Brisbane on its way to commence a cruise season out of Sydney. “Norwegian Jewel’s return to local waters also enables us to showcase to local cruisers and the industry Norwegian’s commitment to the continued enhancement and elevation of its fleet as part of our Norwegian Edge® program project in 2018” said Steve Odell, Senior Vice President and Managing Director Asia Pacific for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. During her 2018/19 season, Norwegian Jewel embarked upon scenic Australia and New Zealand voyages and as Cruising News is being distributed the ship is returning to Asia, however will be back in Australian waters at the end of 2019. Also another visitor was the all-suite, all-balcony Seven Seas Mariner, which underwent a 20-day bow-to-stern refurbishment in the Chantier Naval de Marseille dry dock in 2018. The ship now offers new culinary experiences in newly redesigned restaurants, a redesigned pool deck, a remodelled library, new suite designs and a dramatic, elegant new ambience for all guest spaces. A highlight of her 2018-19 Australasian season has been a 36-night Grand Voyage sailing circumnavigating the coast of Australia. My tour revealed a beautiful ship and I enjoyed a sumptuous lunch in the Compass Rose Dining Room. 30 Issue 29
