DAUGHTER OF THE KING

What is your favorite song from Radiate, and why?

I have different connections to them all (like children I guess) but I love good to be a girl. My childhood was the 80s and so I grew up with a lot of chick rock music and songs that were roll your windows down and sing with friends. songs..and this is one of those for me!

Tricia Brock, of Superchic[k] chats about her newest album & what means to be royalty. .

What does it really mean to be a daughter of the King and how does that cause you to live and think differently?

None of us are random or a mistake. We are born into royalty, chosen, loved as we are. We aren't playing dress-up to look or feel beautiful, we are meant to have the character of a princess or a queen. I think of what I picture in a princess. Graciousness, love for the people around you, dressing like a lady, carrying yourself with class. And I think all of those things stem from what's in your heart, what you desire to be and then asking God to create it in you.

Everyone wants to look like the pretty, fairytale princess who steals Prince Charming's heart, and has everything together. But so often we feel, ugly, worthless, and inadequate. What can we do when we're struggling to make the mirror happy?

We do all have those moments. I remember walking through the halls of a new school in 10th grade and feeling like every girl was beautiful, and put together and I was the least of them. I would just pray silently and ask god to give me confidence in what makes me different and what is unique and special about me. Those feelings will still come, but you can focus your mind on other things and most importantly you start to focus on so much more than the outward.

Radiate

What's the story behind that song?

I wrote it about a rainy day. I can let little things get me down and affect a whole day and the older I get I'm learning that it is my choice to find the sunshine in every day or situation.
