One of a Kind Love Story
I (Livy) was given the opportunity to catch up with Jill Duggar Dillard several weeks ago, to discuss all things dating, relationships, and life as a newlywed! The Nineteen Kids and Counting star graciously shared her golden nuggets of wisdom with us.
For those of you who haven't been tuning in every Tuesday night on TLC to watch the adventures of this supersized family unfold, I'll quickly catch you up to speed.
Jill and Derick's 21st Centry love story kicked off while Derick was serving as a missionary in Nepal. The two had never met in person, but Jim Bob {Mr. Duggar} felt that Jill's personality might mesh well with the fella, and introduced them via Skype. Who knew that his prayer partner (Derick), would become his daughter's husband? Jill and Mr. Duggar spontaniously hopped on a plane and flew to the other side of the world to meet Derick, and soon the lovebirds were engaged, and planning a massive wedding!
I was one of the millions who tuned in to eagerly watch Jill and Derick's wedding. Their two-hour-long TV special was such an amazing testimony of snow white purity, shamelessly on display for a world that has a stained and tainted idea about true love. Their commitment to save their first kiss until saying "I Do" definitely raised some eyebrows. The Duggar's no-nonsense approach to absolute purity worried some folks.
"No kissing?!" critics gasped. "How can you possibly fall in love without kissing?!"
Well, Jill and Derick proved all the naysayers wrong. The starstruck lovers made it to their special day without breaking their self-imposed courtship rules, and because of it, their wedding was absolutely and altogether lovely. I first asked Jill about her favorite elements of that special day.
