FAVORITE TRAVEL LOCATION:
Jana: I would say Israel was probably the most favorite place that all of us have traveled. It was really neat just seeing the places where Jesus had walked and done the different miracles that you read about all the time. Just being able to see where it happened was really neat!
Jessa: I've enjoyed going on missions trips to El Salvador, and several of us pretty much every year have been able to go down there around Christmas time and minister in different villages in
El Salvador, and also in Honduras. And that's been a highlight, just being able to see how these people live, and they are so content. That's what is amazing, they are so content. They don't have what we have in this American culture, like commercials on TV telling you that you need something, that you need to look a certain way or be a certain way, thinking that they need more stuff...and they don't have that overseas.
They're just so content with the bare necessities, and they're so grateful for just their daily food. And that was quite the amazing experience, and I hope to go back anytime.
WHO TAKES THE LONGEST TO GET READY IN THE MORNING:
Jessa: It depends on what the event is, where we are going or what we're doing. Sometimes we have those mornings where its like you can NEVER find the right outfit! You can try on ten different things and you're like, ahh! Or you're having a bad hair day, and your hair is totally uncooperative, when you want to curl it and it just won't work, ahh it's so frustrating! Hahaha.
I think we all usually take the same amount of time, you know, twenty minutes or so, depends on what we're doing!
WHO ENJOYS FASHION AND STYLE THE MOST:
Jill: Jessa and Jinger! Jessa and Jinger are probably the best at that. Jinger does a lot of the shopping for clothes, and Jessa is usually our hair stylist person. Hair and makeup, she's pretty good at that.
Jinger is pretty good at finding the good deals. She loves to go shopping and bargain hunts all the time.
She'll find the outfits, then Jessa will do fun stuff with making them work too. :)
FAVORITE PLACES TO SHOP:
Jessa: We do the majority of our shopping at thrift or consignment stores, just because you can find a lot of good bargains and more for your money! But then we also love shopping at Ross. That's one of our favorite stores because you can get name brand clothes discounted. And every once in awhile we'll go to Cato. They have nice clothing that you can get on sale. We're always looking for sales and bargains! Hahaha.
FUNNIEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO THE DUGGARS WHILE TRAVELING:
Jessa: We were in England three years ago. We all wore sets of clothes that were kind of coordinating, so we would choose three or four colors for a day and say, “Everyone wear these colors so we can stay together as a group and not lose anybody.” And so this particular day we were wearing red, maroon, charcoal gray and black. Those were our colors, so everybody was in that same color scheme.
It was kind of a chilly day so a lot of the guys had scarves and hats. We were walking through London, and we came upon this old castle, and we're like, “Oh this is so gorgeous!”
People were standing out there getting pictures, so we said, “We have to get a family picture! Everyone get together, we're getting a family picture.” And so we're all standing there and just as we stopped, someone was passing by so we got the camera and asked if they could take our picture. And this security guard came up and said, “No photo shoot here! No fashion photo shoot!” We're like, “What?!”
He said, “You can't do those here, those are against the rules.” We said, “No, we're a family.”
He was like, “I don't believe you! I don't believe you!" And he made us leave, and he wouldn't let us take a picture there!” Hahahaha.
We're like, “Awe man, next time let's not match with our colors."
