“By the Word of the Lord the heavens
were made, their starry host by the breath of His mouth.” Psalm 33:6
There is nothing quite so breathtaking as standing beneath a midnight sky in Northern Michigan. I throw my head back as I stand on the shores of Mullett Lake, poetry dancing through the air as lyrics and majestic tunes collide, causing me to feel about the size of the button. I shiver with amazement how can I possibly be so small and my God be so BIG?
I feel like a threeyearold, grasping for her blanket or some token of security, as my brain frantically tries to wrap her slippery fingers around something I can't control. It's so massive...so uncontainable.
How could there be One greater than the midnight sky, larger than the hottest burning star, Ruler of the galaxies?
Some nights I feel as if I could reach up and scoop a small handful of stardust. Other nights the vast expanse is so clear and bright, that I can't even begin to count the tiny diamonds twinkling in worship and brilliance.
And to think, that God breathed out such wonders. They appear so small, yet they're powerful, and burn with light and electricity. One wrong move, and a burning star could
fall out of the sky and destroy our planet. Yet, when they obey the One who spoke them into existence, they create a most beautiful and majestic chorus of midnight worship.
Girl, have you ever thought about the mindblowing truth that the same God who breathed out the stars, breathed you into existence as well?
Only one so Majestic and Mighty could create another in His image. The Star Breather released and spoke you out of the depths of His heart, so that you would shine with an illuminating light and a radiating beauty called splendor...something that only the heavens sparkle with.
Just like a real star, your potential is astronomical. If your life is spent tumbling down wrong paths, burning your worship out for another, and turning your holy and sacred temple into something cheap and common...a devastating amount of damage could be done.
But if you choose to reenact and imitate the One who created you, you too can create and ignite the sky! You are a star breather. Your words have the power to call things that are not as though they are, to speak blessings and life, or death and curses. You can reach out and speak of the shining star you see burning in others and encourage them to let it shine without any fear!
Or you can destroy and tear down, causing others to hide in fear and darkness. YOU have been created by the One who spoke out the stars. You too are a star breather. Will you leave light, sparkles, and illumination everywhere you go? Stars have only one unique and corporate purpose: to worship the Creator and point to the high places of Heaven. Sweet star, dance, rejoice and sing your midnight song! Invite every other star to sing along!
