thomas paine vs edmund burke
1. Sticking close to tradition and history will lead nowhere. Advancement in society can only come from overthrowing these two ideals in a total revolution for freedom.
2. No generation has the right to "tie the hands" of the generations to come. Dead men have no right to rule over the present lives of man. Civil rights should be decided by men of modern times. The rights to elect and penalize leaders, and to organize a new constitution are essential to the growth and development of rights in France.
3.These rights which are being dictated through the revolution allow the surpressed people of France to be free of the monarchy, nobility, and clergy's excessive, oppressive power. Only through these rights can the nation progress in a positive way
1. Revolutionists fight for “the rights of man” which are individual rights. These individual rights cause people to become selfish and idealistic instead of realistic. In addition, by striving for these individual rights, the people actually demolish their actual rights. Selfish people think only of themselves in lawmaking, therefore crushing the idea of equal rights.
2. Strong governments and societies take time, experience, and evolution to run. The French government has been developed for many years all to be thrown out for self proclaimed entitled revolutionists.
3. Peaceful and successfully run governments are products born of discipline and restrictions. In turn, true rights can be found within a nation. Revolutionaries fight for the right to food, whereas the real question is how to get and distribute the food.
