Our Beloved King Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette have been executed! This is a travesty! On January 15, 1793, the National Convention condemned our beloved King Louis XVI for “conspiracy against the public liberty and the general safety”. Louis committed no such thing. Louis was a man of his nation . He would never do something that was not for the good of the nation of France. The punishment of the National Convention was something that many of us (church members) did not expect. On January 16, 1793, of the 721 members present, 387 National Convention members voted for the execution of) Louis, 334 members voted against, and 72 members voted for him to be executed, but subject to a number of delaying conditions and reservations. Execution for something that he didn't do is uncalled for! You are killing an innocent man. That is a sin and sins cannot go unpunished. On January 21, 1793, King Louis XVI was killed by the guillotine. Father Henry Essex Edgeworth recalls the last words he heard Louis speak before his death, “ I heard him pronounce distinctly these memorable words: ‘I die innocent of all the crimes laid to my charge; I Pardon those who have occasioned my death; and I pray to God that the blood you are going to shed may never be visited on France.'” Edgeworth then goes on to describe the horrific scene of Louis’s execution: “Many voices were at the same time heard encouraging the executioners. They seemed reanimated themselves, in seizing with violence the most virtuous of Kings, they dragged him under the axe of the guillotine, which with one stroke severed his head from his body. All this passed in a moment. The youngest of the guards, who seemed about eighteen, immediately seized the head, and showed it to the people as he walked round the scaffold; he accompanied this monstrous ceremony with the most atrocious and indecent gestures.” To poke fun of the king after he is executed is atrocious behavior. King Louis XVI is and forever will be an innocent man in the eyes of God. Louis’s wife, Marie Antoinette , lived a very close fate to her husband. A few months after her husband’s execution, Marie Antoinette is transferred to the jail of La Conciergerie. on August 1, which is located within the premises of the main courthouse

Marie Antoinette was tried on October 14 by the Revolutionary Tribunal. Many people did hate Marie Antoinette for her Austrian blood and expensive taste, but that still gives us no right to put our personal feelings towards someones life. Most of the charges held against Marie Antoinette were absurd and surely made up rumors swirling around because of the libelles. The tribunal lasted 15 hours. The unfairness of the trial had already been decided by the Committee of Public Safety and Marie Antoinette was declared guilty of treason on October 16. That same fateful day, Marie Antoinette’s hair was cut off and she was driven to Paris in an open carriage. At 12:15 pm, Marie Antoinette was beheaded at the Place de la Revolucion. Marie Antoinette maintained her dignity, even while she was being put to death. On the scaffold, she accidentally stepped on the executioner's foot, and her last words were, "Monsieur, I ask your pardon. I did not do it on purpose." Marie Antoinette remained the same Marie Antoinette that had married Louis XVI years ago. This was the most unjust and unfair trials France has ever had. Many of you are fools for taking part in this injustice. The Lord will forever see you all as sinners.
