Dear Abby,

I've been noticing more and more deaths related to fashion. Just the other day I watched as the radicals marched through the streets arresting anyone accused of not supporting the revolution. Can you help me look the part? How do I dress like a radical?

Sincerely,

Rosary

Dear Rosary,

I'm glad you asked such an important question. In days like these, one can never be too safe in just exactly how radical he or she acts. As you can see to the right, I have pictured two outfits, both entirely radical for both genders. I'll start with the women since you seem to be of that group. As shown, the only dark colors appropriate are those of red or blue. Any other dark color can be seen as supporting the royals. Generally, material can also make a difference. Muslin, linen, and cotton are appropriate in choosing fabrics as they create simple and comfortable styles. The men have a much more simple style of dress. To look radical, wearing the "sans-culottes" style is a garunteed radical look. Lace and bright colors should be avoided however as they are seen as frivolous or support of the royals. A safe bet to go with any outfit would be to don the tricolor ribbon. Either as a ribbon, or incorporated into dress itself, these colors should always be worn.

Sincerely,

Abby
