The stability of democracy and our country’s position in the world is predicated, in part, on our ability to ensure that the students in our system experience excellence and receive a high-quality education. Our schools today are more diverse and more complex than ever before. In order to meet the educational challenge of today, we must engage in design thinking and focus on building a new model of education focused on providing excellence for all. Many people today view diversity, ethnicity and economics as limiting factors to improving student achievement. Historical data can be found to support this position. However, over the last 20 years, my experiences and research provide me with credible evidence that demographics do not equal destiny. I reject the notion that students from diverse backgrounds cannot perform at high levels. I am excited to lead a team of passionate Crowley ISD educators that share my vision. We are explicit in our expectations and goals. When adults ensure that systems, programs and people are aligned and committed, then all students will experience higher levels of learning. I know excellence can be obtained for all students. It is possible. Together, we can make Crowley ISD the top in Tarrant County. Sincerely, Dr. Michael D.
