School Board Update New trustees, 2017-18 officers introduced at May meeting Trustees welcomed Nedra Robinson (Place 1) and La Tonya Mayfield, Ph.D., (Place 2) to the Board for their first terms of service. The Board also elected officers for the 2017-18 school year, choosing June W. Davis (Place 4) to continue her service as President, while electing Vice President Mia Hall and Secretary Lyndsae M. Benton. Trustees took a moment to recognize outgoing Trustee Thedrick Franklin for his service to Crowley ISD as a trustee from August 2012 to May 2017. Benton TO THE Nedra Robinson - Place 1 Nedra Robinson, a former teacher and current education consultant, wants to see Crowley ISD become a renowned school district across the state and nation for the great work it does for students. A mother of two, Robinson also wants to see CISD increase student achievement and to highlight where students are already excelling, helping to boost pride within the district. Robinson is excited about several things happening in CISD, including the hiring of a new superintendent, the growth in the Crowley area and the district’s MyChoice Programs. La Tonya Mayfield, Ph.D. - Place 2 A first-generation college student, La Tonya Mayfield considers herself a lifelong learner who knows the value of education. A mother of two Crowley ISD students, Mayfield wants to see CISD become the district of choice for families moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area. Mayfield’s excited about the MyChoice Programs the district offers, the marketing of the district’s innovative activities and how eager the community is to see the district flourish.
