Teaching At A New Level

In the past year , Crowley ISD has partnered with a pair of major technology companies , Dell and Apple , to provide innovative training opportunities for our teachers .
More than 50 CISD teachers were immersed in a monthslong training course to learn new ways to incorporate technology in their classrooms and are now poised to continue those trainings and become certified mentors for the district .
DELL CERTIFIED TRAINING
Thirty-eight secondary instructors completed the Dell Certified Teacher training . This extensive , semester-long training was developed and created in partnership with Dell , based in Round Rock , Texas , in order to enhance the understanding and integration of technology into effective , relevant teaching practices that enrich current skills and methods already deployed by skilled teachers .
“ Our goal is to use these training programs as a springboard for increased meaningful communication and collaboration among our educators resulting in a thriving classroom – and campus – environment ,” said Jerry Allen , CISD executive director of technology and information .
Returning in 2016-17 , the Dell Certified Teacher training will welcome 50 new participants into the program , but also offer Dell Certified Mentor training for those teachers who completed the first year and would like to further their knowledge . We will also be offering courses for administrators to become Dell Certified Administrators .
APPLE VANGUARD EDUCATORS
Eleven elementary and intermediate teachers have completed the Apple Vanguard Training Cohort . Under the guidance of an Apple Professional Development Specialist , educators have completed 24-48 professional development hours , strengthened their technology ability , deepened their understanding of technology integration into the curriculum and sharpened their leadership and peer-coaching skills . These educators will continue to shape school thought and understanding of 21st century teaching and learning on their campuses and throughout the district .
The Apple program will be extended this school year to train a new crop of Apple Vanguard teachers , along with an added program for Apple Vanguard Mentors , as well as a program for students .
