Page 10 Crow River Review www.CRVLbaseball.com State Board bans composite bats, effective in 2017 May 14 MBA Board Meeting Minutes Eastside VFW, St. Cloud, MN Meeting called to order by President Richter at 11:00 AM There were 6 dedicated people in attendance Roll call sh owed all Board members present Motion Brennan, second Barry, carried to approve the minutes of the April meeting Duly noted that the Old Republic Surety Bond of $100 was paid Motion Barry, second Kreger, carried 8-1 with Roufs voting no, to approve Alex Lotthamer to play for Raymond under the Heritage Rule Motion Roufs, second Lemke, carried to approve Caleb Kreklau to play for Park Rapids under the Heritage Rule Motion Nagel, second Barry, carried to approve Jordan Payne to play for New London Spicer utilizing the Heritage Rule Motion Lemke, second Kreger, carried to allow David McCoy to play with Hamburg Motion Nagel, second Brennan, carried to approve the Shakopee Coyotes request to play an alumni game on 6/21and New London Spicer to play Granite Falls in an alumni game on 6/22 Motion Roufs, second Nagel, carried to allow the following teams to play non-MBA teams: Red Wing to play Bay City, WI 5/1, Kewaskum, WI 6/23, Hudson, WI 6/29, River Falls, WI 7/6, Chase- burg-Coon Valley Blues 7/15 and Burnsville Bulldogs 7/22 Randolph to play Spring Valley, WI 4/29 and Bay City, WI 5/15 St. Paul Mudhens to play Spring Valley, WI 5/27 Milroy Yankees to play Aurora, SD 6/11 Atwater to play Aurora, SD 6/11 Pipestone A’s to play Flandreau, SD 6/21 Hastings Hawks - Ellsworth, WI 5/7 & 6/17, River Falls, WI 5/18 & 6/17, Bay City, WI 6/3 & 6/25, Elmwood, WI 6/24, and Prescott, WI 7/15 Detroit Lakes to play the Fargo Mets Morehead Brewers approved to play in their tournament: Jamestown Merchants and Bismarck Capitals Motion Forsman, second Barry, carried to allow The Corn Belt league to play the Tomahawk league in an All-Star game 7/1 Motion Roufs, second Lemke, carried to approve the following tournament sanctions: Elko Baseball and New Market 6/3-6/5, Stockmen’s Irish 6/23-6/26, Moorhead Brewers 5/20-5/22, Arlington A’s and Gaylord Islanders “Miller High Life Invite” 6/17-6/19, Detroit Lakes Angels 6/1-6/5 and to allow Jamestown Elks and Jamestown Merchants to play MBA teams It is duly noted that Trevor Archer, Bryan Hansen, Josh Strickland and Trent Bestland will be playing for the Sisseton Redbirds and Dumont. It is duly noted that Matt Solberg will play with Twin Ports and Quamba. Motion Barry, second Lemke, carried effective for the 2017 season the MBA will not allow any composite bats and all WOOD bats will comply with the Major League Rule 1.10 (a) The bat shall be a smooth, round stick not more than 2.61 inches in diameter at the thickest part and not more than 42 inches in length. The bat shall be one piece of solid wood. Note: No laminated or experimental bats shall be used in a MBA game until the manufacturer has secured approval from the MBA Board of Directors. (b) Cupped bats. An indentation in the end of the bat up to 11/4 inches in depth is permitted and may be no wider than two inches and no less than one inch in diameter. The indentation must be curved with no foreign substance added. (c) The bat handle, for not more than 18 inches from its end, may be covered or treated with any material or substance to improve the grip. Any such material or substance that extends past the 18-inch limitation shall cause the bat to be removed from the game. With no further business, motion Lemke, second Nagel, carried to adjourn at 2:10 pm Next MBA Board meeting is schedules for Saturday, June 11th at the Eastside VFW in St. Cloud at 11:00 AM. We will also be reviewing the Bid Proposals from New Ulm, Maple Lake/Delano, Owatonna/ Faribault and Glencoe/Brownton. This will begin at 1:00 PM and each bid will have 15 minutes to present with a 15 minute Q & A.
