Crossing the paths — summary

We believe the game allowed us to successfully incorporate our keywords into the walk . The use of cards with an assigned destination meant we were able to move around the given area in a random , though planned manner . Furthermore , working from a map instead of our phones gave us a fuller walking experience without any distraction - we all felt this was important as we intended to be as in touch with our surroundings as possible . Our decision to individually walk alone was also due to these aspects , though it also made the finishing point ( Aurora ) more exciting as we had no idea when the other players would arrive there and thus felt no pressure to get there ourselves . When we had all eventually arrived and exchanged our walking experiences it was interesting to see how our individual documentation and pathways on the map differed . The game was made with the intention that the player must choose the kind of experience they wanted , as long as they made some kind of recording of each destination selected . Hence our walking game focuses on individual experience , stripped of external expectations or pressures such as time , the mobile phone or what you should be recording / doing on your way . In this way we felt our game allowed us to focus on simply walking whilst reflecting upon the world around us , a very present and satisfying experience indeed .
