CROSSING THE PATHS

ABOUT — Within the Mapping the Local course of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts , each semester Hungarian and Erasmus students work together in small groups . The structure and methodology of the course follows the guidelines of a collaborative research and representational process related to the urban environment and the city as a general theme .
The aim of the recent project was for students to formulate different methods of working together and gain experiences in exploring and representing a previously defined area of city : its streets , buildings , squares and the everyday life of its inhabitants . In this context , the basic methodology was for students to investigate and research , while walking , a specific area of the city centre . And - besides the architecture , commercial aspects , and social spaces , etc . - to include in their walks the types of exhibition spaces in the area ; the final destination was the Aurora Community Centre in district VIII . The results of this process is the current online publication that includes the artistic research projects divided into chapters . The outcome can be considered as a visual diary about experiencing the city using this framework and to introduce the reader / viewer into collaborative processes and methodologies that start with a conceptual idea and the the different aspects of its realisation .
