Out my friend’s backdoor and across his
yard in Niverville there is a path through
the bushes to the local baseball fields. The
sky is thickly overcast. It’s dark out and
I can just see the sun’s faint outline through
the clouds as it drops towards the horizon.
When it’s nearly dropped below the horizon,
it comes out from under the shroud and
smacks me in the face with a stunning
red. This is a farewell; a day blinking out of
existence once again.
