These are some fine young men. Now married (or very shortly to be, in the case
of one of them) and in their mid-twenties, I first met them when they were all
around 18. These are some of my former students. We travelled across Western
Canada and spent 3 months together in and around Guatemala. Tonight they’ve
reunited with me for the first time since their program graduation, and it’s still an
honour for me to get to share time with such a fine collection of people.
I have never regretted the choice to invest in people over possessions. The idea
that I may have played some tiny part in helping others, as my mentors and friends
have helped me abundantly, is motivation plenty.
