THE CROFTON CHRONICLE
# 2
Hi! I’ m a Teru Teru Bōzu!
Dear Readers,
Welcome back to The Crofton Chronicle!
In Japan, a teru teru bōzu is a small handmade cloth doll hung outside windows in hopes of sunny weather. In many ways, our contributors and readers are our own teru teru bōzu: your ideas brighten our pages, your laughter lifts our meetings, and the time you take to read each issue warms our hearts.
This volume is themed around the concept of sky, as the second part of our three-part annual series, Earth, Sky, Sea. What makes this term’ s edition especially meaningful is the creativity and care woven into every page. All of the graphics throughout the issue were hand-drawn by our captain, Jojo Yang, and our cover was designed and illustrated by our captain, Nicky Xu. Inspired by the thoughtful idea of our fellow captain Chloe, we specially incorporated the shifting shades of the sky— from soft dawn, to golden dusk, to deep night— mirroring the change, growth, and many perspectives within our community.
Thank you for being our teru teru bōzus, illuminating our world. We hope The Crofton Chronicle also inspires you to find your own sky— whether that means dreaming boldly, reflecting quietly, or simply pausing to look up.
Love, Chloe, Jojo, Nicky, and Ms. Hoang
