Is this your first time doing public speaking and what do you think about it? Chanel 7C: No, I started in grade 4. I think public speaking is really good to build confidence and to speak in public. What was your speech about and did you like this topic? Joyce 7C: I wrote about the climate activist Greta Thunberg. I liked this topic because she is very inspiring. What was your favourite part of the public speaking process? Elsie 5H: My favorite part of the public speaking process was writing it because that’ s when the writing came to life. Did you write a whole new speech or did you pick out an old piece of writing that you had and what was it about? Camilla 5H: I used my first K. I. D as an old piece of writing. It was about honeycreepers being affected by a disease called Avian Malaria. How did you feel when you were speaking in front of people? Violet 5H: I was very nervous because I do not do public speaking that often so it is new for me which makes it scary. What would you say was the hardest part of presenting your speech, and how did you deal with it? Annika 6S: The hardest part of presenting my speech was standing in front of my classmates and parents. I dealt with this by just focusing on my speech.
What places did you present your speech and where did you want to present your speech? Cara 4H: I presented my speech in the learning commons and the foyer. I wanted to present my speech in the music room because it helps my confidence. Who was there to watch your speech? Roxanne 4H: My mom and some of my friends. Would you want to do public speaking again and why? Alianna 4H: I would want to do Public Speaking because it builds up my confidence and I would want to talk about more cats. What do you think you could improve on in your speech? Chloe 4C: Something that I would improve on is not look at my paper that much and look more at the audience. What was one thing you wanted to tell the audience? Olivia 4C: Something I wanted to tell the audience is how important my speech is, and that the audience should listen to what I am saying.

TEACHERS ' SPRING BREAK PLANS

We love spring break. It ' s a time to relax, have fun, spend time with family, and more! But have you wondered what the teachers do during spring break? We interviewed a number of our teachers from the Grade 1 teachers to the Grade 7 teachers in the Junior School and asked about their plans.
What are your plans for the spring holidays? Ms. Araujo: I’ m staying in town and might go skiing in Whistler. I also might do some spring cleaning.
Ms. Chambers: I would love to go somewhere hot, but I will probably stay here and ski at the local mountains. Ms. Eady: I’ m going to go to LA and San Diego to visit my friend and get some much-needed sun! Ms. Edgington: During spring break, I will be staying local. Ms. Ferguson: During spring break, I hope to go skiing at Whistler. Hopefully, there is a lot more snow there so we can go up for a day or two. Mr. Fischer: During spring break, I am going to Cannon Beach, Oregon, with my family. For the rest of spring break, I will be chilling in Vancouver. Ms. Fitch: I ' m going to do lots of yoga and visit my friends. Ms. Harding: I am going to stay here and sit on my deck. Ms. Hare: I hope to spend some time working on a big sewing project.
