Country of history, culture and tradition, it is
quite logical that Zagreb, the capital, is the nerve
center of culture and art.
However, it is in the city of Split (1750) that was
shown at the first public collection. Since then,
national buildings of major Croatian cities (Zadar,
Dubrovnik, Osijek and Zagreb) hosting public
exhibitions.
In Zagreb, the different categories of Art and
Croatian heritage are exposed in different building,
and each with its own Art exhibitions as museums
or galleries.
After the Second World War, many municipal
museums opened in major Croatian towns or cities
where history has left an indelible mark.
Recent museums and galleries in Zagreb, we find
the "Gallery Kloviceci Dvori " , the museum of
"Neanderthal Man" in Krapina (a few kilometers
from Zagreb) , the last of the museum opened its
doors in Zagreb being the "museum of broken
relationship".

Art in Zagreb
Gallery Klovicevi Dvori
Located in uptown Zagreb, the Gallery Klovićevi Dvori
elected position in the former Jesuit monastery.
This gallery hosts throughout the year art exhibitions and
cultural heritage of the Croatian national and international
artistic heritage.
Gallery Strossmayer of Old Masters
Bequeathed to the city of Zagreb in 1884 by Josip Juraj Strossmayer Bishop, this gallery is a "gallery-museum"
featuring works of European painters of all time with a prominent place in Italian and French artists.
Installed in the Academy and Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb is in the same building is the "Baska
tablet" is the oldest known example of Glagolitic script.
Croatian Artist Center
Located a few minutes’ walk from the main square, the circular architecture that must design the famous
Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic was built to be a placeholder for exhibitions, but he was also a mosque, a
