Alongside all of the things you’d expect to see in a mainstream cycling magazine, we’re aiming to bring you an in depth profile feature on a different cycling club in each edition of Criterium. To set the wheels in motion, we popped into one of the most unique cycling clubs youre likely to come across... the York Tavern in Norwich. We took in a ride and followed it up by having a drink with owner Andy Bolton, whilst discussing the Yorkies.

CM:

Firstly, I suppose a good starting point is to ask you, where did the idea of the Yorkies come from?

AB:

The whole cycling thing came about 3 years ago after a charity bike ride. My wife, then manageress and myself used to organise Sunday night rides out to other pubs and it all started to grow from there. After some encouragement from a friend, I bought my first road bike and started early morning training rides and it was through this and the pub, I met Jay Sexton an exceptionally talented rider

and together with his and my wife's support, the Yorkies Cycling Club was born.
