To date, Tejay is arguably yet to fulfil his potential – I would consider the only genuine success of note in his early career to be the yellow jersey in the 2013 Tour of California and his 5th place in the 2012 Tour de France. It was during this 2012 tour that Tejay looked like a contender and future GC candidate, however last year was a different story and frankly... he looked everything but at winner in the making! Admittedly, this should change as he emerges from the shadow of Cadel Evans to become BMC’s number one grand tour contender, but, to date, it is largely unfulfilled potential which Tejay can call upon to back his claim as America’s new cycling centrepoint.
