The discovery of four chemical elements, announced last December, led the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) to ask Japan, Russia and the United Kingdom to propose names for the new members of the periodic table. Scientists should not only raise a denomination for their findings, but also suggest a two-letter symbol representing the chemical elements.

The IUPAC itself has given today the name of the four chemical elements recently incorporated to the periodic table. The suggestions made by his discoverers are: Nihonium (Nh) for the controversial element 113, which originated a dispute between Japan and the US; Moscovium (Mc) for element 115; Tennessine (Ts) for element 117 and finally Oganesson (Og) for element 118.
