Shepperton CC does a fantastic job of offering people within
their community an opportunity to play the game in a safe
and enjoyable environment. Cricket Club Magazine recently
caught up with Club Representative Ben Horler to find out
more about the good work that they’ve been doing lately.
Ben told us, “I’ve been at the
club for three years in total; I’m
a resident of the town itself and
wanted to play competitive cricket
that also has a strong social side as
well. The atmosphere is very good at
the moment and everyone is looking
forwards to the new season as we’ve
been netting since February. It has
been a really good offseason for us.”
“We’ve been something of a
yo-yo club in recent years going
between the first division and the
premier so hopefully a nice double
promotion this year following the
disappointment of relegation at the
end of last season. There is quite a
gap between the two leagues so it is
quite a step up in standard. To stay
up we’d need to attract a few players
of a higher calibre which hasn’t
always been achievable.
