“As mentioned earlier, one of our biggest challenges
is player availability along with keeping costs down as
to make it as affordable as we can for players to want to
play as much cricket as they can. There are so many other
things youngsters can do know that we have to make
the club as inviting as possible and encourage people to
choose to play the game rather than other activities.
Our ambitions over the next five years are to keep
producing good local cricketers who want to play on the
best ground and pitch in the south west of England. We
are focused on helping players improve their playing
abilities and potentially move on to minor county cricket
and beyond. We want Sidmouth to be a place where
people not only enjoy the game but enjoy socialising
afterwards, making friends and enjoying themselves.”

“I have played for the club since I was seven as
a wicketkeeper/batsman. We are hoping to retain
the title this year and for the second team to get
promoted as well. The key thing is developing the
youth and I’m hoping the new coach Alex Barrow
can add a lot to the club. We also now have a
good set up to start the ladies team.
The new captain, Nick Gingell is a great role mod-
el with unrivalled passion and heart for the club.
He is a positive guy who has put a lot into the
club so it is great to see him as captain. I’d like to
encourage everyone at the club to stick at it, lets
keep building and becoming stronger every year.”
