The cricket club has enjoyed another successful season.
Having won the Devon Premier League in 2017 the 1st team
retained its Premier League status. The 2nd team won the ‘C’
Division West and has gained promotion to the ‘B’ Division
and are now the leading 2nd team anywhere in Devon. The
3rd team also won promotion and the 4th team continues to
provide cricketing opportunities for young and old alike. Our
ladies section goes from strength to strength. Additionally, and
most importantly, we are the most successful youth section in
the South Devon area.
The cricket club only operates successfully with the
assistance and commitment of a group of volunteers, who
give up time and effort for the greater good of the club. The
membership of the club currently stands at over 350 people. We
hope that Bovey Tracey is justifiably proud of its cricket club.
Youth cricket is integral to our success both on and off the
field. Our Monday and Friday evening Colts training evenings
provide cricket from an early age with cricket related games,
while the parents enjoy a social evening with food and the bar
available.

Our 4th XI was created a few years ago with the sole intention
of introducing our older Colts into senior cricket. Many Fathers
who gave up the game some years ago have returned to play
alongside their siblings.
We are very much a community Club and we involve
ourselves in local schools. In that respect we are a huge part of
the cricket academy of South Dartmoor Community College at
Ashburton.
Challenges in the next five years are in availability of
players. There are now many other attractions over a weekend
which compete with player’s interests. Additionally, many
players leave the area when pursuing a career after University.
Over the next five years we want to be one of the best
Clubs in Devon, consistently winning trophies, providing good
facilities for all to enjoy and to be a welcoming Club which is
respected by all.
