programme to move them through our
age groups into the senior teams. This
season 20+ juniors played across the 2nd-
4th XIs and also represented the club in
an Academy league and also played in
our social Sunday 2nd and 3rd XIs.
We look to help young players step
up to senior cricket through involvement
in senior training nights, easing them into
seniors through the more gentle pace of
Sunday social cricket. Senior captains are
aware that Juniors must take an active
part in the game with either bat or ball
or both.”

Community Challenges/Ambitions
“We have strong links with local
schools and support local events. We
take part in the Village May Day parade,
provide prizes for school fund raising
events, hire a local school for our Winter
nets and the club is always represented
at memorial services for former club
players who were killed in the two World
Wars. This August we held a memorial
game to reflect on the last game played
in 1914 before the outbreak of the war.” “One of our biggest challenges is
finding people who will commit to help
run the club. We need fresh ideas and
views on our committee. We also need
to raise sufficient funds to build a much
needed new pavilion.
It is our ambition to build a new
pavilion that is useable by the whole
community, not just the cricket club. We
also want to maintain our Premier League
status for all teams and of course to win
a trophy or two. It is also important to
develop juniors to play at their highest
possible level.”
