We caught up with a number of key figures at the club to find out more about the good work that they’ve been doing lately. CC: How would you say the start to the season has gone? Brett Van Niekerk, 1st XI captain, “It has been a mixed first half of the season, with the second XI well-set for a promotion push from Division 5A of the Thames Valley Cricket League in second place. The first XI has recovered from a slow start and is gaining momentum in Division 2A, sitting in mid-table 50 Issue 42 currently, while the 3rd XI is looking to claw its way out of the bottom two in Division 7A.” CC: What are your plans for the rest of 2015? Brett, “This season’s priorities are to continue to make sure each side builds on their respective starts. As more players become available for selection with unviersity and school commitments finished, we are hopeful of even stronger showings in the last nine games than in the first. For the 1st team that will mean climbing up the table with an eye on a top three finish, the second XI is definitely shooting for top spot and our 3rds certainly have the ability to finish mid-table or even higher.” CC: How’s the general mood down at the club at the moment? Brett, “It is a good time to be at Maidenhead and Bray Cricket Club. The atmosphere is really positive and encouraging, particularly for new players and youngsters who are beginning to make their mark in senior cricket. We always have good team spirit throughout the club and enjoy the social side of the game as well. We have welcomed James Billington, an Australian batsman from touring side The Crusaders, into our ranks this year and we are looking forward to an improving second half of the 2015 season.” Maidenhead and Bray Club Info - www.mandbcc.co.uk - Twitter : @mandbcc - Found 1798
